1911 Pro Tip

Had a Rock Island 1911 come in for some trigger work. Stoned and polished the internals, and found that the leaf spring needed to be adjusted as well.

This is careful work, since you can easily create some serious issues.

It was really helpful to lay the spring out on some graph paper and mark the original position of the leaves. That way any changes were measurable, rather than just guessing.

Originally it was pulling at 5.5lbs, now it’s reduced to 4.0lbs even.
